As the nationwide Cyclospora outbreak tied to Taylor Farms products imported from Mexico continues, Georgia Agriculture Commissioner Tyler J Harper is encouraging Georgia consumers to support Georgia farmers and purchase locally grown lettuce. As the Georgia Department of Agriculture (GDA) Food Safety Division continues to respond to this outbreak to protect Georgians, GDA is clarifying that, at this time, the recall only impacts Taylor Farms and Marketside products originating from MexicoCurrently, FDA is not aware of any “Product of the USA” Taylor Farms or Marketside products in relation to the current recall.

“Keeping Georgia’s food supply safe and secure is our top priority as this outbreak continues,” said Georgia Agriculture Commissioner Tyler J Harper. “While we continue working overtime to ensure recalled product is no longer available for sale in our state, I’m encouraging Georgians support our local farmers and buy Georgia Grown lettuce. Less time in transport and fewer opportunities for contamination make Georgia Grown produce the safest option for Georgia consumers.”

The current recall only extends to Taylor Farms and Marketside products that are product of MexicoTaylor Farms and Marketside products labeled “Product of the USA” are not included in the recall and remain on store shelves across Georgia. Consumers are encouraged to check the label for the “Product of USA” marker.

Marketside products under recall were sold at Walmart locations in Georgia.
