Elite Treats, LLC of Boca Raton, FL, is recalling a single lot of “Elite Treats Chicken Chips for Dogs” (6oz) because it may be contaminated with Salmonella. The product is packaged in a six (6) ounce bag marked with the lot number 24045 and an expiration date of 04/2027. The recalled product was distributed to feed stores in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, and South Carolina.

Salmonella can cause illness to both pets and humans exposed to the product. This pathogen can be contracted through handling contaminated products, contact with pets who have consumed the recalled product, and contact with surfaces that may have touched the product, such as bowls, utensils, or countertops. To reduce the risk of human illness from Salmonella, ensure that proper handwashing techniques are followed and contaminated surfaces are cleaned and disinfected.
