Georgia Department of Agriculture Releases Using Pesticides Wisely Training Schedule to Support Safe Over-the-Top Dicamba Use

ATLANTA, GA – Today, the Georgia Department of Agriculture (GDA) announced the 2026 dates and locations for its Using Pesticides Wisely (UPW) training program. Hosted in partnership with UGA Extension, these trainings equip Georgia producers with the latest guidance on the safe and effective application of Over-the-Top dicamba products under the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) updated label requirements.

Georgia has invested in a proven, statewide program to help applicators meet federal, annual training requirements while promoting responsible stewardship. Since its inception in 2015, UPW has hosted more than 200 training events, trained more than 20,000 applicators on safe pesticide use, and reduced pesticide drift complaints by 90%. From 2023 to 2024 alone, nearly 5,000 producers successfully completed the training.

While the program satisfies mandatory Over-the-Top dicamba training requirements, it also delivers valuable insights for all growers by reinforcing best practices in pesticide application, regulatory compliance, and crop protection stewardship.
