ATLANTA, GA — On Saturday, August 15, 2026, Georgia Agriculture Commissioner Tyler J Harper will visit the Peachtree Road Farmers Market in Atlanta as part of the Georgia Department of Agriculture’s Meet Me at the Market campaign.
The campaign highlights the important role farmers markets play in strengthening Georgia’s No. 1 industry — agriculture — while connecting consumers directly with the farmers and producers who grow and make the products they enjoy. It encourages Georgians to shop local, meet the farmers behind their food, and experience the quality and variety of products grown and produced here in Georgia.
WHO:
- Tyler J Harper, Commissioner, Georgia Department of Agriculture
WHAT:
Commissioner Harper will visit the Peachtree Road Farmers Market, a producer-only farmers market that is celebrating its 19th year of connecting Atlanta-area consumers with local farmers, producers, and makers.
More than 70 local farmers, producers, and artists participate in the market each Saturday morning from March through December at The Cathedral of St. Philip in Buckhead. Everything sold at the market is grown, raised, or made by the vendor selling it.
The market also offers live music, story time, a picnic and children's area, educational programming, playgrounds, and other activities designed to bring the community together.
WHY:
Farmers markets serve as important incubators for agricultural entrepreneurship, giving farmers and small food businesses opportunities to introduce new products, test new ideas, and build relationships directly with consumers.
They also serve as community gathering places, bringing Georgians together and strengthening the connection between consumers and the farmers and producers who help feed and sustain our state.
