Scrapie Flock Identification Number

Flock Identification Number

Sheep and/or goat producers are required to obtain a Scrapie Flock Identification Number and/or a National Premises Identification Number (NPIN), depending on the type of official USDA tags you plan to use in your flock or herd. Once your application is submitted, your assigned Scrapie Flock ID Number and NPIN will be emailed to you. Please allow 5–7 business days for processing.

Free Plastic Ear Tags for New Participants

First-time participants in the Sheep and Goat Identification Program are eligible to receive up to 100 free plastic tags through the National Scrapie Eradication Program (NSEP).

These USDA-provided tags (Shearwell Data) support new producers in complying with federal identification requirements and strengthen traceability efforts.

Producers must purchase the compatible Shearwell Tag Applicator directly from the manufacturer.
