Kroger Value Semi Sweet Chocolate Chips recalled for milk not listed on product label

Georgia Agriculture Commissioner Gary Black alerts consumers to the recall of some semi-sweet chocolate chips sold at Kroger Stores.

Barry Callebaut USA LLC is recalling its product sold at Kroger Stores under the brand "Kroger Value Semi Sweet Chocolate Chips.” The product, packaged in a 12-ounce bag, may contain a milk ingredient not listed on the label. The product’s UPC Code is 11110–86603 and has “Best By” dates ending in 2012. That information is printed in black on the back left corner of the bag.

Consumers with allergies or severe sensitivity to milk may be at risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume this product.

The Kroger Value Semi Sweet Chocolate Chips were sold in Kroger stores nationwide. The product was also sold at: Dillon’s and Gerbes stores in Kansas and Missouri; Baker’s stores in Nebraska; Jay C, Hilander, Owen’s, Pay Less and Scott’s stores in Illinois and Indiana; Fred Meyer, Fry’s, King Soopers, Smith’s, City Market, Foods Co., and Food 4 Less stores in California, Nevada, Nebraska, New Mexico, Illinois and Indiana.
