Some biscuits sold at Asian grocery stores recalled for suspected melamine

Monday, November 3, 2008

Georgia Agriculture Commissioner Tommy Irvin warns consumers of a biscuit -- sold primarily at Asian grocery stores -- that may contain melamine.

Everlasting Distributors Inc., Bayonne, NJ, is recalling its “Fresh and Crispy Jacobina Biscuits” because they may be contaminated with melamine.

The product, in 3.88 oz (110 gm) packages, comes in a blue and red color clear plastic package, labeled “JACOBINA.”  The biscuits were distributed nationally to Asian grocery stores.

The recall was initiated after Food and Drug Administration discovered melamine in the product.
Consumers who have the biscuits are urged to stop using them immediately. Those with questions about possible health risks should contact their physician.

Consumers who have purchased “Fresh and Crispy Jacobina Biscuits” are instructed to return it to place of purchase for a full refund.  Those with questions should contact Everlasting Distributors, Inc. at (201) 823-0800.
