Georgia Agriculture Commissioner Tommy Irvin is alerting consumers to the recall of some powdered coffee mixes because of possible contamination with melamine.
Sunny Maid Corp. of Monterey Park, Calif., is voluntarily recalling Mr. Brown 3-in-1 and 2-in-1 POWDERED PACKETS IN BAG COFFEE MIXES, because they are potentially contaminated with melamine. These products are in addition to the coffee and tea mixes recalled last week by King Car Food Industrial Co. Ltd., a Taiwanese company.
No canned Mr. Brown coffee mixes were included in the recall and only three of the seven flavors available in Asia were imported to the U.S.
The three flavors being recalled are:
Mr. Brown 3-in-1 POWDERED PACKETS IN BAG COFFEE MIX Mandheling;
Mr. Brown 3-in-1 POWDERED PACKETS IN BAG COFFEE MIX Arabica;
Mr. Brown 2-in-1 POWDERED PACKETS IN BAG COFFEE MIX Mandheling.
The products were distributed to wholesale distributors and retail stores in Georgia and 20 more states: California, Florida, Iowa, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, North Carolina, New Mexico, Nevada, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, Washington, and Wisconsin.
Consumers who purchased the mixes should return them to the place of purchase for a refund.
