MB - Agritourism Focus Of UGA Workshops

From pumpkin patches to shrimp boat tours, agritourism is growing as a business in Georgia. With that in mind, the University of Georgia Center for Agribusiness and Economic Development and a consortium of partners will hold three workshops across Georgia to help those in, or interested in, the agritourism industry.

Day one of the workshops will include sessions on business and website development. In the web class, participants will learn how to create and update their own free websites. The day will conclude with tours of existing agritourism venues and a networking reception. On the second day, speakers will address marketing, finances, signage, insurance and other topics.

The workshops will be held Nov. 5-6 at the Dillard House in Dillard, Ga.; Dec. 2-3 at Oakhurst Farms in West Point, Ga.; and in 2010 in Valdosta. The date and location of the Valdosta workshop has yet to be determined.

Registration is $99, and hotels are available near both locations. Seating is limited. Visit www.areg.caes.uga.edu or call 706-583-0347 to learn more about the workshops, view the agendas and find accommodations.
