Video Conference Scheduled For Ga./Fla. Green Industry

The 2008 Georgia/Florida Green Industry Update, scheduled October 7, is designed to provide those in the green industry with the latest information on a wide variety of topics, including new production and cultural practices, plants, pests, and products.

This year’s program is a break from tradition, utilizing the latest technology in video conferencing.  Participants may choose to attend one of three locations: Savannah, Georgia (Bamboo Farm and Coastal Gardens), Jacksonville, Florida (Duval County Extension Office), or Quincy, Florida (North Florida Research and Education Center).  There will be live presentations at each of these locations as well as presentations delivered from remote locations, including Athens, Georgia and Apopka, Florida.

The program offers a dynamic line-up of speakers, including Paul Baker from Oasis Irrigation; Chip Bates from the Georgia Forestry Commission;  Bob Stamps, Gary Knox and Terry DelValle from the University of Florida; and Allan Armitage from the University of Georgia.  Three hours of pesticide re-certification in Ornamentals and Turf will be offered to participants from Georgia.

Space is limited, so early registration is encouraged to assure participants a seat at the location of their choice. You can register four ways: by mail, by phone, by FAX or on line at http://www.caes.uga.edu/campus/tifton/conferences/events.htm.  For more information, phone (229) 386-3416.
